ISME has been implementing annual group training courses, entitled:
- "Sustainable Management of Mangrove Ecosystems" (since 1995)
- "Environmental Education for Sustainable Development - conservation of coastal ecosystems for Lives of Local Communities" (since 2005)
ISME has so far received 85 participants from 36 countries for the mangrove
training course, and 22 participants from 17 countries for the environmental
education course. The course programmes are composed of lectures, field
survey an observation tours to relevant institutions in Japan.
Courses are funded and organized by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). For more information please contact local JICA office or Embassy of Japan in your country.
Other than implementation of the JICA sponsored annual training course, ISME has also been implementing spontaneous short-term training courses. ISME also dispatches experts to countries where surveys and investigation are necessary for understanding the present condition of mangrove ecosystems and for formulation of projects.
