Kiribati is one of the island countries facing the serious threat of sea-level
rise. Since 2004, ISME has been implementing a project in Tarawa,
Kiribati. Objective of this project is to introduce mangrove-planting techniques
to local community and authorities concerned, and also to develop educational
materials such as textbooks on natural environment to be distributed to
the children in Kiribati.
Project is financed by COSMO OIL Co., Ltd. (Japan). Project is implemented
in collaboration with a Japanese NGO "Asia Pacific Sustainable Development
(APSD)", and is strongly supported by Ministry of Environment Lands
and Agriculture Development (MELAD) and Ministry of Education, Youth and
Sports (MEYS) of Kiribati.
