Global Mangrove Database and
Information System(GLOMIS)

ISME is expanding the world's largest mangrove database "Global Mangrove Database and Information System (GLOMIS)" to strengthen information exchange and networking, and developing capacity for effective management of mangrove ecosystems.
The GLOMIS Homepage (http://www.glomis.com) includes GLOMIS database, ISME/GLOMIS Electronic Journal, GLOMIS News and many other information.

In the long run, GLOMIS aims to ensure that the mangrove ecosystems are managed and utilised judiciously for forest products like timber and fuelwood as well as the sustainable management of fisheries and the maintenance of coastal water quality and stability.
The GLOMIS project is funded by ITTO and supported by four Regional Centres (Brazil, Fiji, Ghana and Malaysia) and GLOMIS Headquarters (Japan). Project Coordinator: Prof. Chris Gordon; Assistant Coordinator: Dr. Mami Kainuma, Ms. Nozomi Oshiro.
