Tree height can be up to 10m.

Bunches of flower buds are hanging down from the branches. Red and white flowers with sweet fragrance bloom in the nights of June to August.

Grows in fresh water or very low salinity environments, so it may not be categorized as mangrove species in some cases.

Distributed around Southeast Asia and Pacific islands.
Seen in Okinawa as well.
