Scientific name Sonneratia alba The tree becomes about 30 meters tall in the tropics. Upright pneumatophore roots appear on the ground like bamboo shoot. Widely distributed from Oceania to Madagascar. In Okinawa, it can be found in Iriomote, Ishigaki and Kohama islands , but the height is only 5-8 meters.
