Periophthalmus vulgar

Frequently seen on the mangrove mud flats. One kind of fish, but adaptable to living upland. Different from other fish in various ways.
At ebb tide they are active in and around mangrove roots. Feeds on small shrimps and crabs, lugworms, and others.
Can not stay too long in the water despite being a fish. They run away skipping on the water surface, and never dive into the water for a long time.
At high tide they often sit on the roots and branches of mangroves.
